These Terms of Service govern all bookings made with Trip Lanka, a travel services business based in Perth, Western Australia. By making a booking with us, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these terms.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to all tour packages, travel arrangements, and services provided by Trip Lanka to you ("the client"). The lead passenger who makes the booking accepts these Terms on behalf of all travellers included in the booking.
These Terms form the entire agreement between you and Trip Lanka and supersede any prior representations, warranties, or understandings, whether oral or written. Trip Lanka reserves the right to update these Terms at any time; the version in effect at the time of your booking confirmation shall apply to your booking.
A booking is made when you submit a booking request to Trip Lanka and pay the required deposit. Your booking is only confirmed when you receive a written Booking Confirmation from us. Please check all details in your confirmation carefully and notify us immediately of any errors.
To process a booking, we require the following from all travellers:
We will issue your Invoice together with your Booking Confirmation. All travel vouchers, hotel confirmations, and itinerary documents will be sent to you after receipt of full payment.
The following payment schedule applies to all Trip Lanka tour packages unless otherwise stated in your booking confirmation:
Payments are to be made via bank transfer or any approved payment method as advised on your Invoice. All bank transfer charges are to be borne by the remitter. Trip Lanka reserves the right to cancel a booking if payment is not received by the due date.
All prices are quoted in Australian Dollars (AUD) unless otherwise stated. Prices are per person based on twin/double room sharing unless specified as a single supplement rate.
Quoted prices are based on minimum group sizes and are subject to change until a booking is confirmed in writing. Factors that may affect pricing include:
Trip Lanka reserves the right to pass on any unavoidable cost increases arising from fuel surcharges, government-imposed taxes, or currency variations up until 30 days before your departure. We will notify you promptly of any such changes and you will have the right to cancel without penalty if the increase exceeds 10% of the original price.
Entrance fees to UNESCO World Heritage Sites, national parks, and other attractions are not included in package prices unless explicitly stated, and are payable in USD or Sri Lankan Rupees at current exchange rates.
All cancellations must be made in writing to hello@triplanka.com.au. The cancellation date is the date we receive your written notification. The following cancellation charges apply:
| Notice Period Before Arrival | Cancellation Charge |
|---|---|
| More than 30 days | Deposit forfeited (30% of total tour cost) |
| 15 – 29 days | 50% of total tour cost |
| 7 – 14 days | 75% of total tour cost |
| Less than 7 days or no-show | 100% of total tour cost |
Cancellation charges are calculated on the total tour cost, not on the deposit amount only. Any charges imposed by hotels, airlines, or other suppliers will be passed on to you in addition to the above charges.
Peak season bookings (including the Kandy Esala Perahera period, approximately 15 July – 30 August) may carry stricter cancellation terms depending on hotel and supplier requirements. This will be advised at the time of booking.
Name changes are permitted up to 7 days prior to arrival, subject to hotel and supplier approval. A name change fee may apply.
Early departures and unused services are non-refundable under any circumstances.
Trip Lanka reserves the right to cancel or modify a tour in exceptional circumstances, including but not limited to insufficient group numbers, natural disasters, political unrest, or other force majeure events. In the event of a cancellation by Trip Lanka:
We reserve the right to make minor alterations to itineraries, hotels, or included activities without prior notice where necessary. Where a significant change is unavoidable, we will notify you as soon as possible.
Requests for amendments to a confirmed booking must be made in writing and are subject to availability and supplier terms. An administration fee of AUD 50 per change may apply in addition to any supplier charges. Amendment requests are not guaranteed and will be confirmed in writing if accepted.
Date changes after confirmation are subject to revised pricing based on availability at the time of the change request.
We strongly recommend that all travellers obtain comprehensive travel insurance before departure. Your insurance should cover, at a minimum:
Australian travellers should also refer to the Smartraveller website (www.smartraveller.gov.au) for up-to-date travel advice for Sri Lanka. Trip Lanka accepts no responsibility for losses arising from a failure to obtain adequate travel insurance.
It is the sole responsibility of each traveller to ensure they hold valid travel documents for the duration of the trip, including:
Trip Lanka is not responsible for any costs, losses, or consequences arising from a traveller's failure to hold valid travel documents, including denial of boarding or entry to Sri Lanka.
Some activities included in our tours (such as rock climbing at Sigiriya, hiking, and national park safaris) require a reasonable level of physical fitness. It is your responsibility to advise us of any health conditions, mobility limitations, or dietary requirements at the time of booking so we can make appropriate arrangements.
We recommend consulting your doctor or a travel medicine specialist before travelling to Sri Lanka regarding recommended vaccinations and health precautions. Trip Lanka accepts no responsibility for illness, injury, or other health-related events during your tour.
Hotels and accommodation listed in our itineraries are indicative and subject to availability at the time of confirmation. Where a listed property is unavailable, Trip Lanka will substitute an alternative of comparable or higher standard. Room categories are twin/double sharing unless a single supplement has been paid.
Meal inclusions are as specified in your itinerary (typically half board — breakfast and dinner). Lunches and beverages are not included unless explicitly stated. Special dietary requirements must be communicated at the time of booking and we will make reasonable efforts to accommodate these, but cannot guarantee availability at all venues.
Services of third-party providers including airlines, accommodation providers, and activity operators are subject to the terms and conditions of those providers. Trip Lanka acts as an agent on your behalf in arranging these services.
Trip Lanka acts as an agent for hotels, transport operators, and other service providers. While we take care in selecting our suppliers, we cannot be held liable for any act, omission, default, or failure on the part of any third-party service provider.
To the maximum extent permitted by Australian Consumer Law, Trip Lanka's total liability to you in connection with any booking shall not exceed the total tour cost paid by you to Trip Lanka.
Trip Lanka is not liable for:
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, warranty, or condition implied or imposed by Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
Trip Lanka shall not be liable for any failure to perform, or delay in performance of, any of our obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay is caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:
In force majeure situations, Trip Lanka will make every effort to assist with rescheduling where possible, subject to availability and supplier policies. Refunds will not be provided for services or portions of tours already consumed.
All travellers are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that is respectful of local customs, cultural and religious sites, wildlife, and fellow travellers. Sri Lanka is a country of profound cultural and spiritual heritage, and we ask all guests to dress modestly when visiting temples and sacred sites.
Trip Lanka reserves the right to terminate the tour of any traveller whose behaviour is deemed by our representative or guides to be disruptive, offensive, dangerous, or incompatible with the enjoyment of the tour by other guests. In such cases, no refund will be provided for unused services.
If you have a problem or complaint during your tour, please bring it to the attention of your guide or Trip Lanka's representative immediately so we have the opportunity to resolve it on the spot. Complaints that are not raised during the tour may be more difficult to resolve after the fact.
If your complaint cannot be resolved during your trip, please submit it in writing to hello@triplanka.com.au within 28 days of your return. We will acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 28 business days.
